Sa Plaça - Local produce market

Built more than three centuries ago, the Cloister of Carmen in Mahón, popularly known as "Sa Plaça", has been home to a local produce market for 140 years under the columns and corbels of the old cloister. Over the years, the market has adapted to the commercial changes in the city and also to the evolution of customers' shopping habits. Today, the market is a commercial, gastronomic and cultural space that still maintains its essence and is a meeting point for the local population, as well as a great attraction for visitors. The market has a wide range of local produce in its butchers, greengrocers, greengrocers and delicatessens and, at the same time, a gastronomic space with a wide variety of food stalls for a snack or a bite to eat. There are also some stalls selling handicrafts, clothes and accessories.

In summer, the large cloister courtyard becomes a venue for performances and concerts with a varied cultural programme.
