This is one of the island's pastries par excellence, and one of the oldest of too. You will always find it on the table during festivities and celebrations. Although its origin is rather uncertain, our legends and history tell us that it comes from the Muslim occupation of the island and that, with the passing of time, it was Christianised and the recipe evolved from its original version.
